It's the very first I Sugar Coat It Holiday Gift Guide and this one is for the budding baker in your life. The tools are pretty, mostly practical and perfect for gift-giving!
There is something about the holidays that makes me want to buy all the things for all the people, and then some. This time of year everything looks prettier and shinier and I just want to wrap them up and hand them over to nearby open hands, or tuck them under a tree and I'm pretty sure you're the same way. So, I am sharing a few of my favourite things with you today, perfect for the budding baker in your life. Let's get shopping, shall we!
1. Kitchen Aid 7 Qt Commercial Stand Mixer - A stand mixer is essential to any baker's kitchen. I love the array of colours in which they are available. I would have one of each to suit my mood on any given day, if I could. 😉 It's an investment, but it's worth it to spend a little more to get the model that is right for you, to avoid making multiple purchases over the years. I was fortunate to receive both my KA mixers as gifts. They are what started me baking!
2. Miles Kimball Silicone Whisk Set - Sometimes those eggs require a little wrist action to whip them into shape, so why not make it a pretty whipping.
3. Staybowlizer - One hand for mixing, the second to secure the bowl and a third to take that process shot for your Instagram feed. Right! 😉 Enter the Staybowlizer! I started using this about a year ago and I LOVE it. In addition to providing that third hand, it's perfect for creating a double boiler!
4. Jessie Steele Macarons Measuring Spoons - Need I say more? MACARONS!! These are so freaking cute, you must have them!
5. Two-Toned Mixing Bowls wit Lids (set of 4) - I'm known for breaking things, so metal bowls are my first choice, but I do like a little pretty in the mix and they have lids. Pretty and practical!
6. Rae Dunn White Pear Measuring Cups - Now you know I live by the scale, but this stackable pear measuring cup set was just too cute to pass up. You don't have to hide it away in the already over stuffed drawer - it's a pretty little conversation piece.
7. Kuhn Rikon Dual Zester - Now you can zest or grate it two ways - because a little citrus zest is sometimes all you need to take a recipe from meh to yay. Oh, and it's GREEN!
8. Libbey 9-Piece Cocoktail Mixology Set - For those of us who like a little happy juice in our baked goods, or on its own and want to look like a pro doing so. Don't forget to drink responsibly, it's the cool thing to do. 🙂
9. Tovolo 12-Inch Silicine Spatula (set of 4) - Confession. I own way too many spatulas, but with good reason. I use a set for meringues and keep them separate from those used with oil-based recipes. I do the same for my stand mixer bowls, Silpats and, ok I know, anal. But I own it. 🙂 Anyhoo, these are great and I think you should definitely have them.
10. Rainbow-Colored Decorating Sugar Crystals - Because everything should be sugar-coated in every colour possible! Nuff said!
11. Escali Arti Glass Digital Kitchen Scale - For anyone serious about baking, a kitchen scale is your best friend! It was the first thing I learned in Culinary School and it's how I've rolled since. So get yourself one and let's tare it up! 🙂
There you have it! Short and sweet! The I Sugar Coat It Bakers Holiday Gift Guide 2014! Not an exhaustive list by any means, but shopping tends to lose its appeal when one is inundated or overwhelmed. Now how about I get your shopping started with a few items?
The spatulas and Staybowlizer you'll recognize from the gift guide above, but I wanted to switch up the bowls because a friend gave me a similar set and I think the pouring lip makes them ideal for baking. Enter below for a chance to win the three items. Contest is open to Canada (except Quebec) and the Continental USA. Full contest rules are included in the giveaway widget.
